The Hottest 100 results are in!

Thanks to our good friends at The Local Taphouse, Crafty Pint and Australian Brews News, the results for the Hottest 100 brews for 2014 are in! There were the movers and shakers, the steady players and those beers which are quietly and tenaciously moving their way up the rungs. The winners were announced on Australia Day with over 50 venues around Australia showcasing the top 10 brews. Congratulations to Feral Brewery’s Hop Hog which once again reigned supreme (see our review of Hop Hog here) and equally hearty congrats to the 35 new entries for 2014. It just goes to show that Australia’s beer market is dynamic, exciting and continually evolving. There really has never been a better time to drink beer in this country! It also highlights just how much the Australian drinking public enjoys Pale Ales with 7 of the top 10 sitting within the broader style of Pale Ale!

Here is a shapshot of the Top 10, with the full results, courtesy of Crafty Pint, here:

1. Feral Hop Hog

2. Stone & Wood Pacific Ale

3. 4 Pines Pale Ale

4. Little Creatures Pale Ale

5. La Sirene Praline (new entry)

6. Riverside Brewing 777 (new entry)

7. Mountain Goat Summer Ale

8. Noisy Minor ANZUS IPA

9. Bridge Road Beechworth Pale Ale

10. 4 Pines Kolsch

On another, more musical note, our friend Chet Faker took out the number one gong in Triple J’s Hottest 100, with his tune, Talk is Cheap. We are big fans of Chet Faker, our latest review of the Eagle Bay Brewing’s Cacao Stout was paired to Chet Faker’s song 1998! Awesome tune!

High fives to the brewers, breweries, musicians who all are pursuing their passions and providing fantastic brews & tunes for us all to enjoy!!
