Lord Nelson Brewery: 2IC Brown Ale

Very Much In Charge / Maurie & Eve: Crop/ Witchery: heels / The Iconic: Silver skirt / Glee: Rockstar / Emily Floyd

“the 2IC Brown Ale from  Lord Nelson Brewery struts with the swagger of a B.O.S.S., it’s 500mls of pure, unadulterated bottled aspiration. It’s velvety milk chocolate and biscuity tones are punctuated by a smattering of citrusy orange peel notes, all of which rock to the beat of a fresh and nutty earthiness”

2.I.C. – Second.In.Charge. The title of 2IC can sometimes feel a little derogatory, after all it specifically relates to not being in charge, it’s all about being SECOND in charge. 2IC’s don’t get to make the big calls, take the glory or leave the office early… they have a boss after all! The boss is: I.N C.H.A.R.G.E. They are often the unsung heroes, dedicating themselves to make the big wig look good, the ones who takes the fall when the poop hits the fan and then puts the long hours in to clean up the mess.

But… do not be fooled. The 2IC is a mighty powerful position to be in. The 2IC is relied upon, leaned on, and as such, given the boss’s ear. They are the gatekeeper to the 3IC’s, 4IC’s and anyone else who thinks they deserve time in front of the 1IC. They control who comes in, who goes out. Less exposed but given great responsibility, gaining valuable experience whilst all the time, learning, learning and learning.

The 2IC is actually, the cool cat in the business. They are the person to watch and to be nice to. They are ambitious, ready to get to the top, to be the best in the business… to be T.H.E B.O.S.S. They absorb information like sponges, bettering themselves day after day. The 2IC is patient, ready for that moment when the boss determines it is time to hand over the reins, pass on the mantle and relegate their position of leadership over to their trusty and loyal 2IC. Welcome to the top!

Just like most 2IC’s, the 2IC Brown Ale from  Lord Nelson Brewery struts with the swagger of a B.O.S.S., it’s 500mls of pure, unadulterated bottled aspiration. It’s velvety milk chocolate and biscuity tones are punctuated by a smattering of citrusy orange peel notes, all of which rock to the beat of a fresh and nutty earthiness. In my eyes, this brew is already the boss!

It’s having confidence to do your own thing, the demeanor of someone who is hungry to stand out and reach the dizzy heights of leadership. It’s having dreams and aspirations. It’s the cast from Glee with their smooth melodic yet upbeat voices, telling us we can all be Rockstars!!. It’s the crop with attitude from Maurie & Eve, the dazzling silver pleated skirt from The Iconic and the sharp points from Witchery.  It’s artist Emily Floyd who has been dubbed as one to watch in 2014, in our eyes, she is already the boss. It’s the Battle of Copenhagen when Lord Nelson was Vice Admiral Nelson, 2IC to Admiral Sir Hyde Parker. He won the battle and the rest, as they say, is history!
