Burleigh Brewing Company: Dream Date
First Crush / BNKR: Keepsake Star Eyes dress / Wittner: monochrome heels / Christina Aguilera: Car Wash
“Hundreds of kilos of dates and a fair whack of hops mingle together, dancing to their own tune, creating their own special kind of magic. They are perfectly partnered, the dates offering up sweetness and light to this dark date ale, whilst the aromatic hops spin and twirl their way throughout this brew, meshed together to perfection… like it was always meant to be.”
Your first crush never leaves you, whatever your age. That gentle, little heart flutter that alters life as you know it…. never to be the same again. It can steal your innocence, burst your safe and secure bubble and completely shake your foundations, but it is undeniably exhilarating. My life-changing moment took place at a skating rink. He whizzed past me, wild locks of long dark hair flowing, speed-skating like a demon. He could really move on those skates, weaving in and out around the other skaters, with a level of confidence that was breathtaking. When he passed by, all eyes were on him and I was swept up in all of his glory.
I was 10 years old, living in America, doing everything a typical Australian kid living in America does; ten pin bowling at the arcade and rollerskating on Friday nights. His name was José, he was hispanic; he was exotic. For most of the night, we would skate to the beat of the loud disco tunes, laughing, dancing and swept up in the excitement of it all. When the last song, the slow song, came on at the end of the night, José would take my hand and expertly lead me around the rink. We were like synchronised swimmers, skating in perfect harmony, our skates crossing over one another in perfect timing around the corners. I was in 10 year old crush heaven! I knew nothing about him apart from his name and when it was time to leave America and return to our sandy shores, I didn’t look back… but I did remember.
Burleigh Brewing Company’s Dream Date is sure to lure you back to those fond memories. Hundreds of kilos of dates and a fair whack of hops mingle together, dancing to their own tune, creating their own special kind of magic. They are perfectly partnered, the dates offering up sweetness and light to this dark date ale, whilst the aromatic hops spin and twirl their way throughout this brew, meshed together to perfection… like it was always meant to be.
It’s BNKR’s Keepsake Star Eyes skater dress, working equally as well with Wittner monochrome heels when it’s time to get off the rink and take the date up a notch; it’s Christina Aguilera belting out an old classic, full of 70’s beat and funk. You just can’t help but dance.
